Ep.3: Micro or Macro Managing?

Micro-managing - what a term! We live in a world of sound bites and while terms like this might make for a quick insight into a much larger topic, they usually fail to factor in all of the components, and more importantly, CONTEXT. 

In this episode of of our Daily D.O.S.E™ Podcast we look at the 4 levels of competency and how this concept plays a massive role in deciding whether we need to micro or macro manage someone 'on a specific task or behavior'. I say specific because no-one is all or nothing of anything.

As a manager, we need to be cognizant of where our team sit in terms of competency within the responsibilities of their role, and a solid skills audit (an essential precursor) done regularly will assist us in determining this.

If we are being managed, let's put our ego and the need to show we know to the side. Rather than become defensive and offended that we may be being micro-managed, let's have a healthy, respectful conversation with our Manager, and and discover why we're being micro-managed and why we feel it would beneficial to have a bit more free reign.
